Recently, everyone has been talking about Dylan Mulvaney. One of the most well-known figures on social media right now is the transgender influencer.
She originally attracted internet users’ notice after her Bud Light partnership went viral earlier this month. Anheuser-Busch’s inclusiveness initiatives were dubbed “gender propaganda” by the beer company’s conservative customer base as a result of the relationship.
Following the Bud Light scandal, other companies who worked with Dylan, like Nike and Olay, also faced backlash on social media. After receiving angry comments over their prior partnerships with the TikTok singer, Maybelline and Mac Cosmetics have now joined their ranks.
Examining the Dylan Mulvaney Maybelline collaboration
Dylan released a Maybelline-sponsored video in March of this year, and right-wing Twitter users are criticising it.
In the March 14 video, the 26-year-old assumes her full glam image while showcasing Maybelline products.
“Getting glam for my Day 365 show @maybelline #maybellinepartner,” the caption says.
In addition to demonstrating the renowned Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind concealer, Dylan finishes by dabbing a little lipstick on her lips. In the video, she is wearing her typically upbeat avatar.
A strong minority of conservative Twitter users were incensed by the ad because they believed Dylan’s sponsor, a cosmetics company, must be “mocking women.”
May belline has been contacted by HITC and GRV Media for comment.
Dylan’s association with Mac Cosmetics is being criticised
The same Twitter fan base that criticised Dylan’s collaboration with Maybe lline has also criticised her prior cooperation with Mac Cosmetics.
Users who are upset have discovered an old video Mulvaney and Mac Cosmetics produced to promote the company’s Viva Glam promotion for World AIDS Day in 2022.
In it, Dylan talks about the effects of HIV/AIDS on the transgender population while doing a full face of makeup with Mac products. Even though the film has a pleasant message, irate Twitter users have not held back.
