For parts of Northern Illinois, including Lee, Ogle, and DeKalb Counties, the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that is in effect until 3 PM.
The primary dangers are sporadic, two-inch-diameter hail, destructive wind gusts up to 70 mph, and even a few tornadoes.
For a few more hours, a big thunderstorm may linger over northwest Illinois and move eastward over portions of northern Illinois. Large hail and destructive winds are possible if the storm intensifies further.
Always keep in mind that severe thunderstorms might form there while there is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect!
