The Arizona Diamondbacks want to start Brandon Pfaadt against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday after bringing up the organization’s top pitching prospect.
Pfaadt, who attended Bellamine University in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fifth round in the 2020 amateur draught.
He's on his way. 👀

Brandon Pfaadt is renowned for his leadership skills and his strike-throwing prowess. He throws a low-90s fastball, a curveball, a changeup, and a slider, among other pitches.
Pfaadt worked in the Arizona Diamondbacks instructional league after getting selected, despite the pandemic interfering with the minor league season of 2020. His slider, a pitch he had only begun to hone before the season was called off, was one he worked on for the majority of the year. It is now one of his main pitches.
Love this for him! Well deserved!! https://t.co/axgGbCngeu

Since the Arizona Diamondbacks released Madison Bumgarner two weeks ago, the rotation has been thin. Brandon Pfaadt will have a chance to fill that void.

Pfaadt shot up the organisational prospect rankings last season after compiling an 8-7 record and a 3.21 ERA pitching between Class A and Double-A level in 2021. Between Double-A and Triple-A, he collected an 11-7 record with 218 strikeouts, including 5-1 in 10 starts with Reno after 144 hitters were retired in 19 appearances with the Double-A Amarillo Sod Poodles.

Pfaadt is renowned for his diligence and hard work off the pitch. He is dedicated to developing his game and supporting his team’s success. He stated the following in a MiLB.com interview:
Every time I take the mound, I simply try to perform my job, compete, and give my team a chance to win.
Overall, Pfaadt is a young pitcher with promise who may have a promising future. He has the potential to be a significant asset for the Arizona Diamondbacks with his command and his growing slider, and if he can handle the pressure of MLB hitters, he’ll probably get a closer look.
We have a Bellarmime alum heading to the big leagues! Huge congrats to Brandon and the baseball program https://t.co/gNdNgiwZXL
