After the final horn in a Game 4 loss to the Boston Celtics, Dejounte Murray approached and pushed referee Gediminas Petraitis. He then continued to yell at the official while being restrained by his teammates and the Hawks’ coaching staff.
Murray discussed the NBA’s decision to punish him for one game following his altercation with the referee with the media at the morning shootaround before to Game 5.
Whatever happened, happened,” Murray remarked. “I simply think that everyone, including the players, coaches, and officials, should be held accountable. It must not be biassed. It must be equitable. We should all be held accountable, as I have stated. I’m suspended at the end of the day, and that is what it is.
However, in Game 4, some fans are criticising the NBA’s one-sided judgement since Jayson Tatum did not receive the same treatment and was spotted pushing a referee out of the way in fury after Trae Young committed a hazardous foul.
Tatum appeared to be getting up right away out of hot energy to cool himself down away from any conflict, but the NBA didn’t view it as anything akin to a violation or penalty.

Dejounte Murray, one of the most versatile players on the team who plays at both ends of the floor, will not be available for the Atlanta Hawks in a crucial Game 5 with the Celtics possessing home-court advantage.
Quin Snyder, the Hawks’ head coach, also shared his viewpoint in the wake of Murray’s one-game ban.
Dejounte is aware of his role in the circumstance, according to Snyder. “It’s just not possible for you to achieve that. If you wanted to know what had happened earlier, you would have to ask him directly. He understands it, we talked about it, but I believe that frustration built up during the course of the game and that he didn’t handle it as he should have.
Outside of Trae Young, the squad has to provide Quin Snyder with every sort of support possible as they travel to play Boston.
Dejounte Murray’s statistics during the Boston Celtics’ first-round matchup
Dejounte Murray has still managed to put up great statistics in the series against the Celtics despite being on the verge of elimination as the Atlanta Hawks are down 3-1.
Murray averages 7.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 2.3 steals, and 25.3 points on 45.6% shooting, including 39.4% from three-point range.

De’Andre Hunter will try to pick up Murray’s offensive burden to back Trae Young in Game 4, so his absence will be felt.
