Christine Baumgartner and Kevin Costner are divorcing.
According to PEOPLE, Baumgarten, 49, has filed for divorce.
The actor’s representative issued the following statement to PEOPLE: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Kevin Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.”
The representative continued, “We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected as they move through this challenging period.
The news was initially reported by TMZ.
In an interview with PEOPLE in November, Kevin Costner praised his wife, saying, “My wife does things that just utterly… Just to help. She makes the place look nicer. She is the reason everything is warmer. She does these tiny things, and I believe they are motivated by love, but she also creates a comfortable environment for herself.
In September 2004, the couple was married. They now have three kids: boys Cayden, 15, and Hayes, 14, as well as daughter Grace, 12. In addition, Kevin Costner , 68, has four elder children from prior relationships: sons Joe and Liam and daughters Lily and Annie.

Before giving Costner an ultimatum, Christine Baumgartner and Costner dated for six years. Before deciding “I’m not going to lose her because I’m afraid,” Costner stated, “there finally came a moment where, maybe this doesn’t go forward.”
Speaking to PEOPLE about their relationship during the epidemic, the actor gushed over his wife, stating, “Our partnership has really come into focus about what we do for each other and how we deal with our family.”

After his 16-year marriage to Cindy Silva, which ended in divorce in 1994, Costner is now married for a second time.
The Field of Dreams actor has played the strong Montana patriarch John Dutton in Yellowstone for five seasons, but in February, rumours started to circulate that he could leave the Paramount series to concentrate on directing and acting in an upcoming Western movie called Horizon.
The second half of season 5 of Yellowstone was supposed to premiere with new episodes in the summer of 2023, however filming has not started yet.
During a discussion at PaleyFest last month, Keith Cox, president of development and production at Paramount, expressed continued confidence that Costner would make a comeback.
What I can say is that our star, who serves as the face of our programme, and the executive producer are certain he will continue with our programme, according to Cox.
