The Love is Blind and The Ultimatum hosts’ relationship hasn’t always been easy going, despite their well-known on-screen presenting pairing.
Even after three years of dating, the couple—who had found themselves in some controversy regarding the reunion of Love Is Blind season 4—decided to call it quits in 2009.
The NCIS: Hawai’i actress and the former 90 Degrees singer, however, quickly worked out their disagreements and were married and had a family.
When filming for the same MTV show in New York in 2003, the former Miss USA hosts crossed paths. At the time, Vanessa, also known as Vanessa Minnillo, was a host on the Total Request Live (TRL).
In a 2017 interview with Billboard magazine, Nick Lachey went into more detail about how he first met Vanessa. I wouldn’t say TRL specifically brought us together, but having musicians and on-air talent was undoubtedly a factor in our time together, he added. I frequently saw her throughout the years when she was on TRL.
However, Nick and his then-wife Jessica Simpson were the stars of MTV’s Newlyweds in 2003. Thus, until the The Masked Singer winner’s first wife filed for divorce in 2005, his and Vanessa’s relationship remained just a friendship.
In February 2006, shortly after the 32-year-old’s divorce, Vanessa Lachey made an appearance in one of the singer’s music videos. The NCIS actress, who portrayed Nick Lachey love interest in the music video for “What’s Left of Me,” confessed to Billboard in 2017 that the two started dating nearly right away because of their on-screen connection.
“[It] marked the start of our romance. That’s what turned it into something romantic and made it stop being buddies… I skipped work that day because I was so frightened and crushed on him when he arrived to the premiere. “I called in sick!” the celebrity with Filipino ancestry disclosed.
The couple, who both have birthdays on November 9, made their relationship public not long after. They even kissed live on television to ring in the new year during MTV’s party.
Vanessa Lachey raved about her two-year lover to People magazine in August 2008, saying: “He’s really affectionate. We are quite outspoken and honest, saying things like, “Men don’t use the L-word as frequently as women do, but I didn’t say it first!”
However, the couple decided to part ways and start dating other people in June 2009. Fortunately, this hiccup didn’t last long, and by October Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey were back together.
Vanessa Lachey stated this about their divorce in 2020 when discussing it on their programme Ultimatum: Marry or Move On: “We both saw one other person and we saw that if we got out of our own way, we could be fantastic together. But it took me seeing someone else and realising I didn’t mind the things I once believed bothered me or were preventing me from moving forward. It doesn’t bother me at all.
Nick asked his three-year companion to marry him one year after they broke up. “We’re excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look forward to a wonderful future together,” the delighted couple stated in a joint statement.
Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey wed on July 15, 2011, after a one and a half year engagement. With just about 30 of their closest friends and family members present, the couple exchanged vows to commemorate their already enduring love.
The well-known on-screen couple decided to have their wedding and celebration on Richard Branson’s exclusive Necker Island. And on their special day, the celebrity couple placed a high value on privacy.
On their 2011 TLC wedding special, Nick said, “We don’t want it to be a circus.” “For us, the idea of helicopters and photographers flying about the island is terrifying. We sincerely do not want that to occur.
The three kids raised by the television celebrities are Phoenix, six, Brooklyn, eight, and ten-year-old Camden.
In September 2012, the couple’s first child was born, and both Vanessa and Nick fell in love with him or her right away. Vanessa posted a picture of the baby Camden she was holding in her arms on Twitter along with the message, “@NickSLachey and I are honoured and humbled to welcome you to the new love of our lives.
Brooklyn was then welcomed by the joyful parents in January 2015, followed by Phoenix in December 2016. After the birth of their third child, Nick told People magazine, “I think one of the things that really drew us to each other is we both really value family and how important family is.””
Although the couple seems content with their settled family of five, Vanessa did recently joke about feeling broody about the couple’s fourth pregnancy. But Nick didn’t seem to be as enthusiastic about the notion.
Nick and Vanessa are still very much husband and wife, 13 years after their nuptials on Necker Island.
Nick has seen some challenges over the past year, but his wife seems to be sticking by his side as he deals with the aftermath from an event involving a confrontation with a photographer in 2022.
Vanessa shared some of the secrets of the couple’s continuing closeness with Us Weekly in 2020, despite what she called their “lowest lows”.
“I think we’ve had our highest highs and lowest lows as a couple, and it’s forced us to communicate better and things that we kind of thought we kind of had under control or tools we used to use in our relationship,” the 42-year-old added.

Nick and Vanessa have been together for 17 years, having first begun to become close in 2006. The couple did break up in 2009, but because it was only temporary, it had little impact on how long-lasting their union was.
Additionally, the co-hosts of Love is Blind have been wed for almost 12 years. Vanessa shared a touching tribute to her husband on Instagram in 2020 to mark the couple’s ninth wedding anniversary.

In a piece he published for their tenth wedding anniversary in 2022, Nick repaid the favour. It’s hard to imagine I’ve been married to this amazing woman for 11 years, he wrote. “V, my love for you has grown since the day we exchanged vows. I could never have imagined the life we’ve created together. I appreciate your unwavering devotion and the fact that you are YOU.
