“Speak Now” will be the next album in Taylor Swift’s “Taylor’s Version” series of re-recorded albums, and she gave fans in her hometown of Nashville the opportunity to be the first to hear the official news.

Fans have plenty of time to pre-order Swift’s next album: She stated that it would be released on July 7.

She remarked, “I think rather than me speaking about it,” to gasps as the eagerly anticipated news became imminent from her language. “I thought I would show you, so if you would direct your attention” to the huge screens… There, a large screen displayed the album cover and the release date.

The announcement at Nissan Stadium in Nashville prompted the city to illuminate the Cumberland River bridge nearby with purple lights.

She sent a post to her social media platforms around ten minutes after making the news. The release of my rendition of Speak Now on July 7—just in time for July 9th, iykyk—fills me with such pride and delight, she said.

I wrote Speak Now entirely by myself while I was between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that emerged from this period of my life were distinguished by their frank honesty, unvarnished diary-like admissions, and extreme melancholy. This album is one of my favourites since it depicts growing up, struggling, taking off, falling, and surviving to tell the tale. I can’t wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) with you on July 7th with the six extra songs I’ve released loose from the vault.

The date of July 9, which she sarcastically referenced in her social media post just two days after the record’s release, relates to a particular mention of that day in the lyrics of the song “Last Kiss” from the “Speak Now” album; it is said to refer to a day in 2008 when she travelled to Texas to see her then-boyfriend Joe Jonas.

When the Nashville concert began on Friday, the audience had a good idea of what was to come. At the conclusion of her previous concert this past Sunday, wristbands distributed to the audience turned purple, and LED banners entering Nissan Stadium had a purple colour.

Taylor Swift naturally took advantage of the opportunity to debut a “Speak Now” song that had not yet been performed on the tour, “Sparks Fly,” while accompanying herself on the guitar, immediately following the Nissan Stadium announcement, which happened as she had moved to a B-stage for the solo-acoustic “surprise songs” segment of the performance. (The second surprise song on Friday was from a different album; it was “Teardrops on My Guitar,” from her debut, performed—perhaps counterintuitively—on the piano rather than the guitar.)

Swifties had long conjectured about which of her albums—”1989″ or “Speak Now”—would be the next to receive the re-recording-plus-bonus-tracks treatment, but the evidence was steadily mounting in favour of her third release.

With hardly a minute’s notice, the Taylor Nation Instagram account went live to broadcast the spoken news for followers.

Taylor Swift appears on the new album’s cover in a dress reminiscent to the one she wore on the front of the first album in 2010, but with a more sombre face that clearly distinguishes her from the 20-year-old who appeared on the Big Machine edition’s cover.

There will be six additional tunes, although Taylor Swift did not immediately reveal their names or any other details. The 22-song total for the release is verified by a web page that appeared shortly after the announcement. It states that the LP edition would be a three-record set, delivered on “three unique violet marble colour vinyl discs.”

Taylor Swift has only played one song, “Enchanted,” from the “Speak Now” album every night so far on the Eras Tour. This is significantly less performances than she has given from any previous album she has released, with the exception of her debut, which has no nightly representation. That odd decision to make the album virtually MIA in the three-hour-plus sets didn’t give fans reason to believe that she dislikes the album; instead, it heightened speculation that she may be holding off on adding additional material from “Speak Now” until she was ready to reveal the re-recording.

Only “Fearless” and “Red” from Taylor Swift Big Machine songs have so far been released in “Taylor’s Version” editions; all of Swift’s Big Machine releases have been recorded entirely from scratch. As a result of her public outrage over her Big Machine catalogue being sold against her will, fans have been buying and streaming only the versions where she owns the songs outright, which has resulted in excellent sales for the new albums. Numerous additional tracks of songs that Taylor Swift wrote during those times but never published are also present on the “TV” versions.

13 years ago, “Speak Now” set a record for Taylor Swift since it was the first and only album on which she wrote every song by herself. This was perceived at the time as a response to sceptics who assumed that Swift’s co-writers on her first two albums must have done the bulk of the work. After stating her argument, Taylor Swift continued to write with her writing partners for the next single, “Red.” Even though it would be another few albums before she officially declared herself a pop singer, the album is recognised for signalling a more determined swing towards pop from her country roots.
